Appreciate your body First and foremost... it is important to love yourself! Love the wonderful body that you get to live within here on Earth. Most women get cellulite as we get older. This is not because of fat! Cellulite is an appearance change. It happens to skinny, fit people. It is caused by poor circulation, aging skin, hormonal changes, and changes in fat structure. If you feel beautiful, cellulite and all... good for you! If you want to reduce this appearance... you can do that if you put in the work. Massage Cellulite is an appearance problem that can be improved. Massage is the most powerful tool that we have in that improvement. It improves circulation, smooths the fat structure, and helps make the skin healthier... all the changes needed for reducing cellulite. It can be hard to get effective enough massage without tools to aid. It can be difficult and tiring for the hands to do this to the level needed for good results. The tools to aid in effective massage are inexpensive. In early stages, the cellulite problem is just poor skin condition. This stage can be helped by improving the health of the skin in whatever way is right for you. I found that collagen induction therapy was the most effective tool for me. This treatment reaches deeper in the skin than many other methods as well. It has helped me with many skin firmness problems that aging causes. In later stages, cellulite looks worse. It comes to involve the fat structures getting more nodular, and the connective tissues are also involved, leading to a rippled look of the skin. At this point, massage is the most important treatment. Fat We all have fat. Fat is important to many of the functions of our body. It is a source of energy, aids in the absorption of nutrients, and acts as insulation for both our core body temperature as well as our framework. Lets face it, a lot of what makes the female form attractive is fat. We also need fat in our diet. To cut this out is not healthy. There are fat-soluble nutrients that your body requires (vitamins A, D, E, and K). Good fats in food are vital for us as well. There are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats stabilize your cholesterol levels and help prevent heart disease. Foods with good fats that are recommended: avocados, nuts and seeds, olives and olive oil, fish, and eggs. I used to view fat as an enemy. I became addicted to exercise and was too rigid in my diet. The biggest reasons I became so addicted to exercise is that I felt great after my workout when those endorphins kicked in, I enjoyed the improvements, and I felt great all the time. Cloths always fit beautifully. I actually got my waist size down to 24" and stayed there for many years. I was too extreme on the amount of time I invested in exercise. I now just do the exercise that I enjoy and gives me the results that make me happy. You can enjoy all these benefits without it taking over all your time. The kind of stretching and exercise that improves our posture is definitely worthwhile. Posture plays a big part in our appearance and long term body mechanics effects. Exercise Exercise is a great partner to improving cellulite appearance. Aerobic exercise improves vascular health, which makes it another vital tool for improving cellulite. Exercise is important to good health. It improves quality of life in endless ways. It prevents most illness, and gives you the strength to fight illness. It helps you fight aging. It is not necessary to do high intensity. If you enjoy the exercise you do, then it is not a difficult task to do it. To reduce weight, all you need is to get your heart rate raised for a minimum of 20 minutes for 3 times a week. And up to a point, more than that is just a bonus to your progress and results. While exercise is important, probably over 70% of your fitness results are from what you eat. Diet is actually far more important. My choices I firmly believe in the importance of body type for your fitness program. I learned this the long and slow way. I did the weight machines for total body fitness. Over time I came to realize that this was not good for my legs. I naturally have an ice skater type of build. My legs became bulkier than I liked. I now do dancer type work for lower body, like Pilates and Yoga, and still do weight-lifting for upper body. I have learned that the best way to eat is to have many small meals through the day. It is best to start the day with a full glass of water, then fruit. I highly recommend oatmeal. I also think that air-popped popcorn snacks are often a great high fiber choice. Drink lots of water, and tea is a good choice to fight cellulite and weight problems. Nutrition Extreme diets and diet pills are not a healthy way to live. I believe in eating healthy food and not going extreme with how and what you eat. Reducing carbs and sugars in your diet for a while to lose weight is a good idea. Giving in to cravings on occasion is a good thing too. Don't beat yourself up if you indulge on occasion, we all deserve and need that. I am a firm believer that if you always deny a food item that brings you joy and for which there are no substitutes, you will just eat too much of something else and still not be satisfied. At least that is how it works with me. Don't rush eating, enjoy your food, especially when it is your indulgence item. Plan ahead, keep the healthy food you enjoy around. This way, you will not eat food spontaneously and regret it later.
